Awesome progress! You look fabulous dahlink! I’m planning to do much the same thing – taking a picture of myself in the same bathing suit every 25 pounds. I may just switch it up to every 10 pounds! There really is a difference! Obviously, I won’t be posting my pictures – that whole privacy/anonymity thing is still really important to me, but seeing the pictures sure is a great motivator! You’re doing great!

Ha ha! Thanks! In hindsight, I wish I would have done the same thing in addition to the shirt shown. This shirt is a tank with a baby-doll covering and the covering is not form-fitting. Therefore, it’s hard to actually see my figure underneath. But, at least viewers can see the difference in how much fat is on my arms, how chubby/lean my face looks, etc.
I know I would not have felt as comfortable posting bathing suit photos, however, so I would have had to keep those private as well.
You Go Girl! That’s exactly the way I lost 100 pounds – 10 pounds at a time! It was too daunting to think about any other way!I have one pair of pants that I kept for my after shot. They still serve as a great reminder. Keep up the great work.
It’s so fun to watch your progress! That blue top keeps looking better and better on you…but you do know that it’s going to be like a potato sack on you pretty soon, right? I swear, you look younger with each picture, what a nice side benefit to weight loss. Great job!!
Jen,
You are doing amazingly well. Your results over the months, although not always steady, are trending on the right track because you have changed your food attitude. I am also chuckling inside – you and I have the same favorite cereal – Cinnamon Life. I eat it every morning. I add cranberries. I wish the sugar content was lower, but I find that this cereal is works for me all day and it is an excellent pre-race food on my time trial days. Keep going, this is a change you will love. I am praying for your success.
Hello from Greece… this is amazing. I need to lose 100 pounds (more) which i believe is the same as the 50kg(we don’t use pounds in Greece) all of my life i remember myself trying to lose weight. Sometimes successfully, most of the times not. Today, 29 years old, i have a 50kg monster to kill and this is really hard for me. I admire your strength. You are doing great. Forgive my terrible english. Keep up the good work!Καλή συνέχεια!
hi im 13 and a male boy … i weigh 299 and i would like to be in the 100’s or at least 200 no more the 220 soo i wanna loose up to 100 pounds 80 the least before march of next year and i dont want calorie diets but if u have any other types of diet ,exercise or any other suggestion please help me out u could imagainewat im going through
Alex, I can certainly imagine what you are going through. It has been a while since I have been 13, but I have a daughter about your age and it was not that long ago that I weighed almost 300 pounds too. I hope I can help.
Let me ask you… why don’t you want calorie diets? Why do you have March of next year as a deadline?
Based on what little you have told me, my advice to you would be not to give up any of your favorite foods, but to eat less of them. If you love pizza and ice cream, go ahead and still eat them, but eat them less often and in smaller portions than you do now. If you normally eat four slices of pizza, for example, cut it down to two. As you learn to consume less, your stomach will shrink and you will feel fuller sooner.
Also, try to eat more slowly. If you have to, put the food down after each bite, count to ten and then pick it up again. Try not to eat alone and instead, engage in conversation with a friend or family member so you are “forced” to eat more slowly.
Do your parents or the others in your family also have a problem with weight? Perhaps if you told them that you really wanted to lose weight, they’d help by working on it with you and buying the right types of foods that will make it easier.
Eat as many vegetables as you can, steamed or raw if possible, and not cooked in butter or fried.
If you like candy, try sucking on sugar free candy or chew gum rather than eating candy bars or real sugary stuff.
If you eat cereal in the morning, only have one bowl full and choose the healthiest kind you have in the house.
Get as much exercise as you can. If you don’t really like sports, pick an active hobby. Do you like riding your bike? Do you have a dog that you could walk?
Losing weight is all about consuming fewer or burning more calories than your body needs to function, so you will either have to eat less or exercise more — ideally both!
Do you have a guidance counselor at your school? If you really want to lose weight, set up an appointment with him/her and tell that counselor why it is you think you have a problem with weight. He or she might be able to help you with whatever problem underlies your weight issue. If you are having problems in your family or among your circle of friends, sometimes eating helps you feel better and it is something over which you have control. You don’t often have that type of control over your friends and family unfortunately.
Most people that have a problem with excessive weight also have an emotional need that triggers overeating. Sometimes working on that problem first has a cascading ability to improve all aspects of your life.
I’m glad you’re looking for different avenues to get help and I hope I have helped some. Good luck to you!
I don’t think you look too frail or too thin. I don’t neccesarily think you need to loose any more. But I don’t think you are at the danger zone yet. I have only lost 70 but had 2 people tell me it was time to stop ** and I am still technically 45 pounds overweight! ** (but I am very tall, so I carry it differently) The point I am trying to make is that the people who love us and know us best are used to seeing us look a certain way, while thrilled and over joyed at seeing us thin in your case and thinner in mine, get worried when their normally stout and robust girls start looking less … I dunno… less stout?… Do you see where my rambling is going? If you want to keep going, do it. But don’t forget to stop at the 148!
Jennifer, you really look good. You obviously have a pretty slight frame- maybe that’s just now showing itself? When you’re at the tail end of your loss, 3-4 pounds can make a huge difference. Maybe just lose 3, re-evaluate and then go from there? Data says I should be at 141 or so…64 more pounds! I’m almost a 12 now so that’s pretty hard to believe. I’m going to take it 10 more lbs at a time and see what I think.
They say there are 7-9 pounds of fat packed in around your organs too— that you can’t see. Odd.
Thank you everyone for your comments and compliments too!
@Lisa: Congratulations on your successes! What target weight are you going for?
I’m not *very* tall, but about 5′7″ or so. I’m just now getting into a size 12. I am not pear shaped, or anything unusual, just carry a lot of extra fat/skin around my belly area. Without it, I’d probably be a size 10 at least, probably even an 8.
@Katie: I think I have lots of extra unknown organs in my belly area, ha ha! At 7-9 pounds per organ, maybe I can schedule some mysterious “ectomies” or “otomies” to remove portions or all of those organs!
Hi Jennifer!
You continue to do great and you look awesome! You are an inspiration with your discipline and ability to stick with it even through vacations, family parties, and holidays. Keep up the good work. It is definately worth it!
I weight 273,& have no idea of how or where to start losing except I eat a lot more veggies&fruits now I have lost 8 pounds since I went to my DR.the last time,& that was in june. However I did like how Jennifer Explained to Alex to take his time and chew his food I’ve been told that you should chew at least1time for each tooth in your mouth 34xs if you have them all & no wisdom teeth.I am a person that gets up late & goes to bed between2&530A.M. have a good evening,Denise,
You look amazing and I wished that was me. I have several pounds to lose and I have been tracking my calories on livestrong and it has helped me so much. Can I ask some of the things you have done? also some of the foods you ate? I just would like to chart some and see how it can help me. How many calories did you allow yourself? you can email me at mpedersen2612@charter.net
@Melanie, Thanks for your post. I’m glad you are using the Livestrong app. That should help you immensely, as it makes you accountable and shows you the “science” of weight loss through the numbers. As far as “things I’ve done” I wish I could show more in support of that aspect — I’m kind of lazy and uninterested when it comes to exercise. I don’t know if it is my lack of coordination or what, but I’m not really that good at running and am not a good swimmer or dancer. I do enjoy walking, both outdoors and on a treadmill, and I do some chasing of my three year old for some physical activity. I have a YMCA membership but don’t use it often. It is going to be my goal to exercise more over this winter!
As for foods I ate, it was mostly just smaller portions — allowing myself to continue eating the foods I love, but in moderation. I eat out once per week with my husband, and try to take half of it home in a “to go” box if the serving size seems like too much. I do really enjoy vegetables, and for some people getting enough vegetables and fiber is difficult.
You probably read some of the other suggestions and basics I’ve left in comments on this page for others, but if not, check those out… with regards to snacks, sleep, etc.
Until recently, I’ve let my calorie intake guide be whatever Livestrong suggests for wanting to lose about 1.5 pounds per week. Although it is tempting to want to lose quicker, slower steady weight loss is advised and better for you. When you first start out, you can lose five, or even ten pounds in a week (your body undergoes quite a shock and lots of it is water weight) but soon afterwards you’ll want to settle in to a routine where you’re expecting one or two pounds per week. Don’t give up at that pace!
(I’ll email you just in case you don’t check back at the blog page.)

You look wonderful! You’re an inspiration to me!
Keep up the great work! What a good idea to take progress photos like this!
Wow, 60 pounds now! You look younger and younger with each 10 pound loss. You also look like you’re glowing with health. SO great to see!!!!
Looking great, Jennifer! Keep up the good work.
