Awesome progress! You look fabulous dahlink! I’m planning to do much the same thing – taking a picture of myself in the same bathing suit every 25 pounds. I may just switch it up to every 10 pounds! There really is a difference! Obviously, I won’t be posting my pictures – that whole privacy/anonymity thing is still really important to me, but seeing the pictures sure is a great motivator! You’re doing great!

Ha ha! Thanks! In hindsight, I wish I would have done the same thing in addition to the shirt shown. This shirt is a tank with a baby-doll covering and the covering is not form-fitting. Therefore, it’s hard to actually see my figure underneath. But, at least viewers can see the difference in how much fat is on my arms, how chubby/lean my face looks, etc.

I know I would not have felt as comfortable posting bathing suit photos, however, so I would have had to keep those private as well. :)

You Go Girl! That’s exactly the way I lost 100 pounds – 10 pounds at a time! It was too daunting to think about any other way!I have one pair of pants that I kept for my after shot. They still serve as a great reminder. Keep up the great work.

It’s so fun to watch your progress! That blue top keeps looking better and better on you…but you do know that it’s going to be like a potato sack on you pretty soon, right? I swear, you look younger with each picture, what a nice side benefit to weight loss. Great job!!

  10. Jennifer says:

Thanks Katie! I think the same thing about your progress page — that you look younger with each ten pounds you lose!

    Jen,
You are doing amazingly well. Your results over the months, although not always steady, are trending on the right track because you have changed your food attitude. I am also chuckling inside – you and I have the same favorite cereal – Cinnamon Life. I eat it every morning. I add cranberries. I wish the sugar content was lower, but I find that this cereal is works for me all day and it is an excellent pre-race food on my time trial days. Keep going, this is a change you will love. I am praying for your success.

Hello from Greece… this is amazing. I need to lose 100 pounds (more) which i believe is the same as the 50kg(we don’t use pounds in Greece) all of my life i remember myself trying to lose weight. Sometimes successfully, most of the times not. Today, 29 years old, i have a 50kg monster to kill and this is really hard for me. I admire your strength. You are doing great. Forgive my terrible english. Keep up the good work!Καλή συνέχεια!

Alex, I can certainly imagine what you are going through. It has been a while since I have been 13, but I have a daughter about your age and it was not that long ago that I weighed almost 300 pounds too. I hope I can help.

Let me ask you… why don’t you want calorie diets? Why do you have March of next year as a deadline?

Based on what little you have told me, my advice to you would be not to give up any of your favorite foods, but to eat less of them. If you love pizza and ice cream, go ahead and still eat them, but eat them less often and in smaller portions than you do now. If you normally eat four slices of pizza, for example, cut it down to two. As you learn to consume less, your stomach will shrink and you will feel fuller sooner.

Also, try to eat more slowly. If you have to, put the food down after each bite, count to ten and then pick it up again. Try not to eat alone and instead, engage in conversation with a friend or family member so you are “forced” to eat more slowly.

Do your parents or the others in your family also have a problem with weight? Perhaps if you told them that you really wanted to lose weight, they’d help by working on it with you and buying the right types of foods that will make it easier.

Eat as many vegetables as you can, steamed or raw if possible, and not cooked in butter or fried.

If you like candy, try sucking on sugar free candy or chew gum rather than eating candy bars or real sugary stuff.

If you eat cereal in the morning, only have one bowl full and choose the healthiest kind you have in the house.

Get as much exercise as you can. If you don’t really like sports, pick an active hobby. Do you like riding your bike? Do you have a dog that you could walk?

Losing weight is all about consuming fewer or burning more calories than your body needs to function, so you will either have to eat less or exercise more — ideally both!

Do you have a guidance counselor at your school? If you really want to lose weight, set up an appointment with him/her and tell that counselor why it is you think you have a problem with weight. He or she might be able to help you with whatever problem underlies your weight issue. If you are having problems in your family or among your circle of friends, sometimes eating helps you feel better and it is something over which you have control. You don’t often have that type of control over your friends and family unfortunately.

Most people that have a problem with excessive weight also have an emotional need that triggers overeating. Sometimes working on that problem first has a cascading ability to improve all aspects of your life.

I’m glad you’re looking for different avenues to get help and I hope I have helped some. Good luck to you!

    Jennifer
