The scale told me 203 yesterday, and 202 today. I like the direction I’m moving, albeit ever so slowly. I still need to eke out one more pound before the end of April to meet my monthly goal.

I started thinking at lunch today — there are 35 weeks left in the year. I need to lose another 34 pounds to say I’ve lost 100 pounds by 1/1/11. At only one pound per week, I think that is still very doable. I’ve slowed down so much though. Perhaps it is my body regulating to its new standard and I’m experiencing a plateau. Perhaps it sounds like I’m giving up already and that I won’t be disappointed if I don’t get to 168 by 1/1/11. Will I? In a way, yes. It has always been a very attainable goal and I’m not having to kill myself to make the progress I’ve made to this point. But, in a way, no. If I weigh 173 by 1/1/11 and have therefore only lost 95 pounds, am I going to be disappointed? No — 95 pounds is a lot, and a great accomplishment.

So, for those that have had a big picture goal where you fell short by just a little, were you disappointed?

Don’t get me wrong. I’m still aiming high. I still want to get there! In fact, I’d like to lose another 20 after that. I’m not giving up yet. Neither should you, if you’re still looking forward towards a particular goal. You can do it!

I think you should be proud of your accomplishments-even if you don’t lose any more weight (though you will!) Many of us lose weight on short term diets or exercise programs. You have shown you can do it long term and have made lifestyle changes that are not easy to do! A pound a week sounds easy to everyone else. To those of us battling the bulge, know that one pound is a challenge and an accomplishment. I know you can do it (and good and bad weeks are okay!!)

sigh… Its rough isn’t it? Those plateaus are killer aren’t they? I am plateauing as well. I have to loose 10 pounds in the next 2 weeks to make my 6 month goal… sigh… Might not be what I wanted it to be, but I’m still fighting that “Loosing Battle” (haha!) I am down 40. We just keep slugging along don’t we?

Anyways I just read a quote I liked and wanted to share with you. I have absolutely no idea who said it, but Amen!

-Take pride in how far you’ve come… Have faith in how far you can go…-

1 pound a week is totally do-able! Keep the faith and keep going!! You can do it!!!!

Thank you Mike. I really appreciate your encouraging feedback.

Lisa, ten pounds in two weeks seems unlikely, but who knows? Not that I wish it on you (or anyone) but my sister has battled some sort of flu or something that has suppressed her appetite. I think she may have lost ten pounds in two weeks. You don’t want to lose it that way anyway, because it would only come back once you got to feeling better.

I like your quote though! It’s a good one. Sometimes we lose sight of the things we have (or have accomplished) and only complain about the things we don’t have or haven’t accomplished.

So, said with the right frame of mind, “I am proud for having lost 66 pounds and firmly believe I can lose 34 more!”

Good for you! That’s the right way to think about it!!! Celebrate your victory!!

p.s. I don’t really like I can drop 10 pounds healthily in 2 weeks, but I am going to keep going!!

    I ment to say

p.s. I don’t really THINK I can drop 10 pounds healthily in 2 weeks, but I am going to keep going!!
