I’m still at 204 today, so I’m happy with that. I actually had a small bout with stomach flu this past week and had gotten down to 202. While that was nice to see on the scale, I knew it would be short-lived. However, I did make it through a surprise birthday party my husband and sister unknowingly planned for me and despite eating many of things that were chosen for the catered meal, and having two pieces of birthday cake, I didn’t gain any over the weekend. That in itself is miraculous!

For my birthday, many people got me gift cards to clothing retailers. I had told myself I’d try to keep wearing as many of the old clothes or outdated clothes for as long as possible and then do a really BIG shopping spree when the 100 pounds were gone. But, many who attended the party hadn’t seen me in quite some time and didn’t know of the changes. In fact, one dear friend from a previous employment situation said she might not have recognized me if we passed on the street!

I was called “beautiful” by four different people at the party. It was so weird hearing that. I’ve never considered myself even “pretty”, let alone beautiful. But, maybe my new “me” is beginning to emit some more positive vibes and I’m casting a more pleasing aura all together. Whatever it was, it was nice to hear.

I decided to use one of those gift cards today, and I bought eight new articles of clothing. (I got some great deals on the clearance and sales racks!) I liked shopping, in a way that I never did before. In the past, when I had a pleasurable shopping experience it was because I was buying something that I knew would bring joy to someone else. I love giving gifts. This time, I had fun buying for me.

I have three more gift cards to use, so the joy gets extended!

Good for you! Celebrate yourself!! You have worked super hard and have made lots of sacrifices! You deserve new clothes!! 60+ pounds, I can’t imagine anything fits you anymore!!! Keep up your hard work! You are doing great!!! That is really nice that your hubby and sister threw you a great party! They must really like you or something ;)

p.s. I know you are doing the picture in the same shirt as always, but sneak another one in wearing a new outfit!

  2. How fun! A party AND gift cards. I too would LOVE to see you in one of your new outfits. I’ll bet that by wearing the new clothes you’re going to be shocked yourself by how much different you look.

It’s so cool that so many people told you that you look beautiful. A reminder of how you’re coming into “being the you that you really are”!

You are SO close to the 100’s. I can hardly wait till you get there. Hardly. Wait!
