I think I have mentioned before that I have a treadmill in the basement that is not being used because if I were to do so, it would blow the fuse for the pump in our aquarium. (We have received a quote from an electrician to remedy that for us but haven’t acted on it yet.)

Anyway, in addition to that treadmill, there is also an exercise bicycle, a Gravity Rider, a stair stepper and a weight bench in the same area. I decided to use them this morning! I was motivated to exercise but really didn’t want to face the cold weather to go out to the YMCA. The 30 degree weather would have been a fine howdy you do flap in the face this morning that I really didn’t want to receive.

So, the perfect way to stay warm was to stay in my own home. (Actually, the perfect way would have been to stay under the covers, but not wanting to be that much of a hermit, exercising indoors was second best.)

I did 20 minutes on the exercise bike, 15 steps on the stepper (goal was 100 but the socks I was wearing made me feel unbalanced — next time I will wear shoes) and then 60 reps on the Gravity Rider. At the end, I was barely sweating. It probably was not a strong enough workout and I would have raised my heart rate more had a gone to the gym, but exercise is exercise and I can always do more stepping the next time. That stepping machine is very tiring, so I know I need to kick that one up a notch for maximum benefit.
