One of my blog buddies and I have been discussing boosting metabolism to trick our minds into avoiding a rut. So, if you’re doing a low-calorie diet like I am, every so often (four days?) you’re supposed to have a larger meal. See, if you stay at the lower caloric intake, your body begins to think that is all your body needs. Metabolism slows down. Any time you eat over that amount or fail to exercise to burn the additional calories, you can’t lose weight.

It all seems so counter-intuitive. I mean, how do I justify a big meal when I have achieved results through smaller portions? The question is rhetorical. I understand the argument and I “get it”. Here’s the kicker… I have been “good” for several days in a row, but tomorrow we are celebrating a family birthday. Each time there is a family birthday, the birthday person gets to choose the meal and an elaborate dessert is made. Tomorrow, it’s Hungarian Goulash, garlic bread, salad and for dessert, cherry cheesecake! I think I’m going to go ahead and make tomorrow be the day I have a larger meal.

Now, if I wake up on Sunday weighing two pounds more, I’m going to throw that “boosting” argument right out the window! :)
